Is your marriage fun?

Have you ever tried to ride a tandem bicycle? It’s harder than it looks, for many reasons. After recently taking a spin on one with my wife, it dawned on me that having fun in marriage is a LOT like riding a tandem bike.    Having fun together might be the most under-estimated investment married people can add to their marriage. I know all too well that as the years go by and with the addition of kids, life only gets more busy and we get more tired! That is not a great ... Read More

Takeaways from the 2014 Crossfit Games

This past weekend was the 2014 CrossFit Games in Carson, CA. As a Crossfitter this is the most anticipated sports event I watch all year long. Again this year the athletes showed up and showed out. And again, I come away from the Games with a few takeaways. Usually, I blog about marriage and family life issues, but occasionally I like to offer something related to fitness since it is such a big part of my life. What kids need to hear from their dad (Part 2)

This post is part 2 of "What kids need to hear from their dad.” I cannot stress enough the importance of a father’s words to his children. Take this list and add it to what you already say to your children and give them a mental sound track that gives them life as they grow up!   To your daughters...   Speak of their total beauty.  As her father, make it your mission to be a louder and more complete voice regarding her beauty. Our society is relentless... Read More

What kids need to hear from their dad (Part 1)

I shared the following list in my 2014 Father’s Day sermon. People have been asking me for the full version, so here it is!    I am a firm believer that a father is the primary influence in a child’s life, for better or worse, for a child’s entire life. I believe the job of being a father is the most important job in the world because every earthly father points to our Heavenly Father. Some do this better than others and the result is children grow... Read More
