BONO EATS WITH BUSH (GET YOUR MIND OUT OF THE GUTTER!)
MTV Reports: Bono was at the White House on Wednesday
following a lunch with President Bush. The two were
said to be following-up the conversations they had
while attending the G-8 summit in Scotland back in
July. The A-P reports that White House press
secretary Scott McClellan said: "They had a very good
discussion about some of our common priorities. Both
share a deep commitment to combating AIDS, preventing
malaria and expanding trade to lift people out of
poverty." Bono was also scheduled to meet with
National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley; McClellan
laughed as he said that no, Bush would not be
attending that night’s U2 concert at the MCI Center in
D-C.
MORE IMPORTANTLY...BONO GIVES US THE SCOOP ON THE
SHADES
MTV Reports: The New York Daily News reports that the
next issue of issue of Rolling Stone magazine will
answer the question we’ve all be pondering: Why does
Bono always wear sunglasses? Bono reportedly explains
it this way: “Very sensitive eyes to light. If
somebody takes my photograph, I will see the flash for
the rest of the day. My right eye swells up.” As for
the brand of the glasses, he says they are always
Bulgari. “A lot of people think that, when they see a
‘B’ on the side, that it's just my own megalomania.
Only half the time it is. I'm the Imelda Marcos of
sunglasses."

THE STROKES ARE GETTING HARD (AGAIN...MIND OUTTA THE
GUTTER)
MTV REPORTS: Fans of The Strokes have to wait until
January 3rd for their third album First Impressions of
Earth, but for now they can enjoy the band’s first
single. It’s titled “Juicebox , ” and guitarist Nick
Valensi tells us it was the obvious choice. “
‘Juicebox’ came as a surprise to me. When we were
first working on that song I didn’t think that it
would come out as aggressive as it sounds but I am
very pleased with the aggression on it. We never
really did anything as intense before so that song
just seemed obvious as a candidate for first single.
It’s such a departure for us.” The Strokes are very
tight-lipped about the upcoming video for “Juicebox”
but did say it will include “a live performance at a
radio station [in the video], which will be broadcast
all across New York" according to MTV News.

TOM DELONGE EXPLAINS THE REAL REASON WHY BLINK SPLIT
punkbands reports: Tom Delonge recently explained the
reasoning behind the band's unexplained indefinite
hiatus in an interview with Kerrang. According to the
story, the problems started with Tom's formation of
Box Car Racer: "Mark took it extremely hard. I had no
intention to ever make Box Car a priority over Blink,
but it really hurt him. I didn't understand."
"Travis and I couldn't talk to Mark anymore - we
weren't the friends we were. The other thing was I was
getting so much shit from Mark about Box Car, but then
when we were on that last tour, Mark and Travis had
already put together Plus-44. I didn't even know about
it until it got printed in a magazine."
Delonge also had some words to say about drummer
Travis Barker and his reality show, Meet the Barkers:
"It was something I didn't agree with, but I supported
him, even though I didn't like having TV cameras
around me and I felt that my personal privacy was
invaded." He added his thoughts about the breakup and
the current status of the members, saying:
"Please understand that the break-up, or hiatus, or
whatever you want to call it, was never an agenda of
mine. I never wanted it to happen. It was a very
depressing thing for me. We did a huge amount of
talking and that's why I haven't spoken to them since
because I said everything I needed to say to them."
Blink-182 will release Greatest Hits on November 1st.
